CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2023

Faculty of Commerce under CWDC celebrated International Women’s Day 2023 by organising the following events:
1. S/HE FEST – A Three Day Festival
More than 100 students participated in various competitions such as Poetry recitation, Reels Creation, Painting/Poster making and Rangoli on the theme of Gender Safety, Gender Sensitivity and Gender Equality.
2. Phenomenal Women- A Tribute to Womanhood – An Award Function
An Award Function ‘Phenomenal Women- A tribute to Womanhood’ #celebratingwomanhood on the occasion of International Women’s Day was organized to felicitate and honour prominent women stalwarts from diverse fields who have broken all the barriers and reached the pinnacle of success. Dr. Chandani Kapadia, Executive Director, GLS University graced the function with their august presence. Our esteemed awardees were Ms. Sanjukta Sinha, Acclaimed Kathak Dancer & Artistic Director and Ms. Sonal Vasoya, A Versatile International Para-Athlete, our special guest Ms. Barbie Rajput, an admired singer, songwriter &actor and our female alumni who have made a mark in various fields Ms. Hetvi Limbard, Musician & Programmer and Ms. Vinita Panchal, Model & Dancer. Dr. Chandni Kapadia, Executive Director rightly said in her address that “Behind every successful man there is a woman, similarly behind every successful woman there is a man.” While sharing her journey of life and work experiences, she says that “hard work and dedication brings progress and success at the right time.” She further said that women are making their making various fields today, be it in engineering or aviation. Ms. Sanjukata Sinha and Ms. Sonal Vasoya were awarded the Phenomenal Woman Award by Dr. Chandni Kapadia. Ms. Sanjukata Sinha, well-known Kathak Dancer says that “Dance means confidence”. She said that the right combination of mind and body creates dance. Mr. Sonal Vasoya who is an International Para Athlete has won 43 International Medals. She said she suffered from 85% disability from the age of 5 and learned the hard lesson that many times respect and honor have to be earned. Students were motivated and inspired after listening to the journey of success stories of the esteemed awardees. Our special guest, Dridha, AKA Ms. Barbie Rajput who is a famous singer actress and has many fans on social media said “Live life simply but think high”. She gave a wonderful musical performance. We appreciated and acknowledged own SMPIC alumni Hetvi Limbad who is a famous musician and programmer and Vinita Panchal a model and Dancer and felicitated them by Glorious Alumnus Awards. The event was coordinated by Dr Gitanjali Rampal and Dr Bhavna Parwani.
