1. I would like to have an idea about the student’s safety on the University campus as I don’t belong to Ahmedabad. What should I know about staying safe?

The entire GLS University campus is under CCTV surveillance and there is full time security placed on all the entrance gates of the University. The students are also free to contact their class counsellors as well as senior students at any point of time. As a part of students’ support system the college also has an Anti-Ragging Cell and a Grievance Redressal Cell. However, it is a matter of pride that ever since the inception of SMPIC college in 1999, the college has never had any ragging case. In fact, right from staff members to senior students, all ensure that the whole environment of college is conducive for the new students to adjust comfortably. So rest assured the student is absolutely safe on the Campus.

At the time of admission, the college takes the personal details of parents as well as students like contact numbers, email ids and local as well as permanent addresses. In case if the college wants to contact the parents, they do it by sending a text message, email or send a letter. In cases of emergency, staff members may personally call a parent/guardian as well. Therefore, it is our request to kindly update the contact details in case of any change. With reference to ward’s progress, parents should make sure that the child completes all the components (internal and external) to clear the semester. In case of any medical emergency it is expected that a parent should inform the college if the child is going to miss out on any exam or assignment submission.
The orientation programme is arranged specially for students and parents to give an overall idea about the academics, internal and external evaluation patterns, various activities at the college and add-on courses offered by the college. Also PTM makes it possible for the parents to get personal feedback from faculty members regarding the progress of their wards. So we insist at least one of the parents to attend the orientation session as well as PTM.
The examination dates as well as important dates for project or assignment submissions will be announced well in advance as per the academic planner. It will also be informed via notices as well as Whatsapp groups of class counsellors. Our request to all students and parents to plan your travelling plans and other family functions keeping in mind the examination dates.
