Faculty of Commerce Girls Football team has won Inter Collegiate Football Tournament held at Trophy Fighters Arena  at Sindhu Bhavan Road. Our girls team won Championship Trophy and Cash prize. Our Team player Ashmita Jain also won Golden Shoe award.

FACULTY OF COMMERCE SWEEPS CHAOS 2023

Date: 27th to  29th January,2023

Students of Faculty of Commerce emerged as winners at CHAOS 2023, a national level cultural festival organized by IIM Ahmedabad from the 27th to the 29th of January,2023. Nationwide students from prestigious institutions competed in various categories. The competition allowed students to showcase their intellectual skills and creative talents. Our students bagged the top spots in IIM Chaos under the following categories:

 Faculty of Commerce participated in ‘Ad Vetro’ Competition organised by Shri Jairambhai Patel Institute of Business Management (NICM), Gandhinagar on 17th December, 2022. CHANDRAVEER MERTIYA’S ACHIEVEMENT

Chandraveer Mertiya of semester 5 of our institute was selected from Gujarat to stay and
explore with Indian Navy on INS TRIKAND in Indian Ocean from 02/05/2022 to 13/05/2022
wherein he participated in all the activities on board. Petty Officer Cadet Chandraveer
Mertiya served for two years in Senior Division of NCC Naval Wing wherein he
successfully secured ‘B’ Certificate with ‘A’ Grade .
He was awarded Gold Medal in Khel Mahakumbh for Show Jumping amongst 350
participants at State Level.

WINNER OF THE DIGITAL POSTER MAKING COMPETITION

Trisha Shah won the 1st  prize in E-Creators: The Digital Poster Making Competition under Felicia- The Fine Arts Event as a part of Elysian 4.0 – The Annual Cultural & Literary Fest of Institute of Commerce, Nirma University.

WINNER OF THEATER EVENT AT ‘ELYSIAN 4.0’

Students of our institute performed a skit on Women Empowerment and won the 1st prize in Rangmanch, a Theatre Event as a part of ‘Elysian 4.0’- The Annual Cultural & Literary Fest of Institute of Commerce, Nirma University.

‘THEATRE ACHIEVEMENTS 2022’

Our institute participated in an Inter collegiate National Level Competition of Skit and Dance organized by Faculty of Commerce [GLSIC] -Performance, Talent and Skill Development Program on 6th March, 2022 at Dinesh Hall, with the theme of ‘EMPOWERING WOMEN, EMPOWERING HUMANITY’.

The skit titled ‘Hum or Vo!’ was performed by our students, mentored by our alumni Mr. Vishal Shah, won the  1st Prize along with a cash prize of Rs. 5000. The skit represented the differences between men and women faced in the world and how empowerment can begin at home itself, with your mothers and sisters.

On the occasion of theatre Day celebration, Prayogshala Fringe theatre Festival [ PFTF] 1.0 invited our institute to perform Nukkad Natak “They Vs. Us.”

Winner at 81st All India Inter University Athletics Championship 2021-22

 Date: 21-24th February,2022

Our student Ms. Diksha Dwivedi participated in 81st All India Inter University Athletics Championship 2021-22 organized by Kitt University, Bhubaneshwar from 21-24th February,2022 and secured the 10th position in Javelin Throw.

WINNER AT XENIA 2022

Our student Maitry Trivedi secured the second position in Solo Dance Competition in Western Category in Xenia 2022 organised on 12-13th February, 2022 by Indian School of Business and Finance, Hyderabad.  She was awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 5000.

WINNERS AT MONETA 2021

Date: 12th to 15th January,2022.

Our institute participated in MONETA 2021, National Level Inter College Financial Event organised by RA Podar College of Commerce, Mumbai held from 12th  to 15th  January,2022. Our institute won the 1st runners up and 2nd runners up trophy in Moneta, National level inter college Financial event. There was a participation from over 250 colleges with hundreds of participants from across the country. Various reputed colleges like HR College of Commerce, NMIMS, Great Lakes College of Management, etc. took part in it.  NMIMS college won the first prize for its performance. The second and the third prizes were bagged by SMPIC along with cash prize of Rs. 35,000/- This event was co-ordinated by Dr. Krupa Bhatt and Dr. Jaimin Patel.

SMPIC -WINNER OF BEST COLLEGE OF INDIA TROPHY @JOSH-MUMBAI

Date: 22nd December,2021.

Our institute created a history by winning the BEST college trophy @ INDIA FINALE – National level inter college event organized by NAEMD JOSH 2021, MUMBAI. It was a very challenging and tough competition among numerous Colleges from across various states of India. The entire grueling event comprised of three elimination rounds and the final battle was among the teams from different states. This year the overall theme of the JOSH National Finale was Jaan hai to Jahaan hai (celebration of life).

Our student Devanshi Patel stood 3rd in Gujarat State Ranking Soft Tennis Tournament organized by Gujarat Soft Tennis Association.

CHAMPION CRICKETERS OF SMPIC

  • Our student Smit Patel was the part of team GUJARAT U25 that remained the champion of all INDIA men’s U25 one day league organized by The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) played at Bangalore from 12th November 2021 to 12th December 2022. He got chance to bat in 5 innings and scored total 260 runs and ranked 24th highest run scorer in all INDIA.
  • Our student Rohan Patel played for U-19 Gujarat Cricket Association in Vinoo Mankad Trophy (One day) played at Delhi and organized by BCCI from 29th Septemebr,2021 to 18th October,2021 and Cooch Bihar Trophy(4 days) played at Baroda from 29th November,2021 to 30th January,2022.

Our students participated in Ignite 2021, a festival organized by CMPICA college, CHARUSAT University. Out of 104 students of our Management Club who participated in the festival, Ms.Princy Kubadia won the 1st runner up position and Ms. Rushvi Sheth got the 2nd runner up position in Graffiti – a theme-based T-Shirt painting competition. Our students participated in Concourse Festival2021 organized by Ahmedabad University. SMPIC team comprising of Chirag Agrawal, Gracy Mutta and Priyam Sheth won the 1st prize in Decipher- multi -level quiz competition.  They were awarded certificate, Rs.2000/-  cash prize and trophy.

WINNERS AT YOUTH PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE BY WIRC

Date: 24th January, 2021

Our students participated in youth parliament organized by WIRC of ICAI. The students participated in the parliamentary debate wherein they were allotted the role of different political personalities. Out of around 100 participants, Daksh Chansoria won “A Special Mention Award” and Bhakti Parwani won “Raising Aspirant Award”.

Date: 3rd February, 2021 to 6th February, 2021

The students of the institute participated in India’s largest Financial Management Festival MONETA 2020 organized by R.A Podar College of Commerce, Mumbai from 3rd February 2021 to 6th February 2021. 35 contingents across India like K C college, HR College, Hinduja College, Narsee Munji  from mumbai as well as Damodar college from Goa and many other states participated in the competition. Our institute bagged the 1st runner up position in overall performances among almost 35 teams. The institute is awarded with Rs.11,000/- cash prize, trophy and certificates.

WINNERS AT THE ART POP-UP RANGOLI COMPETITION  

Urvashi Rajput and Krishna Parmar from Semester 5 were declared the 1st Runner up at National level competition “The Art pop-up Rangoli Competition”. It was an online competition wherein they submitted Rangoli Photos and Video between 27thOctober 2020 to 14th November 2020. The results were announced on 19th of November 2020.

Hemang Prajapati(Semester 6) participated in an Inter College Pustak Gyan Pratibha Kaushati 2020 Principal T.J Rana Trophy 2020 organised by C U Shah Commerce College on 27 th January, 2020. He got selected in the final round of personal interview which was held on 4 th February, 2020 and won the 2 nd prize. He was awarded a trophy, certificate and cash price.

RANGOLI WINNERS AT “AROHAN 2020”

Urvashi Rathod (Semester 4) and Krishna Parmar(Semester 4) won the first prize at Rangoli competition organised by NICM, Gandhinagar. Themes for the competition were (1) Go Green and (2) Education for all. Around 12 colleges from all over Gujarat had participated in the competition.

DANCE ACHIEVEMENT

Om Aliani (Semester 2) won the 1 st position in the All Dance Style Battle held in IIT Gandhinagar out of 15 colleges in total. He was awarded 3000/- cash price and a memento.

THEATRE ACHIEVEMENT

Faculty of Commerce (SMPIC) performed the play “Satyamev Jayate” written and directed by Mr. Chintan Bhavsar in the prestigious INT and Gujarat Samachar Drama Competition on 21 st January, 2020. Parshvi Mehta of semester 2 was adjudged the 2 nd Best Actor in Female category and Kuldeepsinh Chudasama of semester 6 was adjudged 3 rd Best Actor in Male Category. The play talks about the role of media in exposing the bitter truths of society.

LITERARY ACHIEVEMENT

Khushboo Dhankani(Semester 4) secured 3 rd position in “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Vijaypadma Vakrutva Spardha” organised by Gujarat Prantiya Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti and M.B. Patel Rashtrabhasha Mahavidyalaya on 19 th January, 2020. She won the medal and cash prize.

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) bagged the Championship Trophy in girl’s cricket Tournament organised by GLS Law College held from 16 th to 20 th October 2019 at SAI in Gandhinagar.

He won 3 gold, 1 Bronze and Overall Championship Trophy in Roller Skating Federation of India State Level held from 13 th to 17 th November 2019 at DPS Bopal, Ahmedabad. He won 2 Gold in Khel Mahakhumbh State Championship held at Eklavya Sports Academy, Ahmedabad. He won 2 GOLD in Khel Mahakhumbh District Championship held at Eklavya Sports Academy, Ahmedabad.

 

MONETA 2019

Faculty of Commerce (SMPIC) participated in India’s largest financial market festival Moneta 2019 organized by  R. A. Poddar College of Economics and Commerce from 18 th to 21 st December, 2019. A team of 12 students from our college participated in this festival. We bagged 1 st Runner-up overall championship trophy and cash prize of Rs. 40,000/-. We won in the following events:

Faculty of Commerce,B.Com.(Hons.) participated in Sahitya Sarita – 2019 an event related to literature, street play, photography etc. organised byL.D. EngineeringCollege on 24th February 2019. The institute secured the 1st runner up position in the Street Play Competition wherein 16 students participated. The street play was written and directed by Palkesh Agrawal, an SMPIC Alumnus.

SYNAPSE 2019

Faculty of Commerce B.Com.(Hons.) participated in Synapse 2019 organised by DAIICT, Gandhinagar on 23rd February 2019. The institute participated in the Street Play Competition and Monoacting Competition. Parikshit Tamaliya was declared winner in the Monoacting Competition. The street play and Monoacting were written and directed by Palkesh Agrawal, an SMPIC Alumnus.

BE A BANKER 2019

Faculty of Commerce B.Com(Hons.) participated in ‘Be a Banker’ organized by Thakur College ,Kandivali at Mumbai on 15th and 16th February,2019.The event was National level Financial Management Festival comprises of competitions like Insurance Bazaar, Elocution and Debate, Post it on Poster etc. Hemang Prajapati won 2nd best prize in Elocution competition. On the basis of overall performance, Contingent leader Chirag Agrawal was awarded Best C.L Trophy. The event was coordinated by Dr.Krupa Bhatt.

INT AND GUJARAT SAMACHAR DRAMA COMPETITION 2019

Faculty of Commerce B.Com.(Hons.),performed the play “Priya Mitr” in the prestigious INT and Gujarat Samachar Drama Competition on 18th January, 2019, based on a Marathi play translated by Mr. Abhishek Shah and directed by Mr. DhrunadKamble. Among the 21 plays performed in the semi-finals, “Priya Mitr” was selected amongst the six finalists. The finale was held on 30th and 31stJanuary, 2018 at Thakorebhai Desai Hall. JeetPatel of semester 4 was adjudged the 2nd Best Actor in male category.The play talks about friendship of Gopal and Madhav, belonging to different castes, that survives the turmoil of caste and creed.The performance was co-ordinated by Dr. Sneha Master and Dr. Gitanjali Rampal.

Parth Varke from Faculty of Commerce (B.com. Hons) Sem-2 secured 3rd position in Inter College Public Speaking Competition organised by R.J. Tibrewal Commerce College in association with Rotary Club of Ahmedabad-Greater on 30th January, 2019 at L.J. Engineering Auditorium, Ahmedabad. He received Trophy and cash prize.

WINNER AT SARDAR VALLABHBHAI PATEL VIJAYPADMA DEBATE COMPETITION 2019

Faculty of Commerce(B.Com. Hons.) participated in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Vijaypadma Debate competition held by Gujarat Prantiy Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti and M. B. Patel Rashrabhasha College, Ahmedabad on 20th January, 2019. Heena Navani from M.Com. Part I and Nikita Krishnani from F.Y. B.Com secured the 1st position and won the trophy. Heena Navani bagged the first and Nikita Krishnani got the second best individual prize along with the books and certificates. The topic for the competition was “Kya online pathyakram achche he ya bure”.

Faculty of Commerce(B.Com. Hons.) participated in Ambaprasad Shukla Vijaypadma Debate Competition(Hindi) held by C.U. Shah Arts College, Ahmedabad on 12th January, 2019 at C.U. Shah Arts College. Heena Navani from M.Com. Part I and Nikita Krishnani from Semester 2 secured the 1st position and won Vijaypadma Shield. COMMERCE IDOL 2019

Faculty of Commerce B.Com (Hons.) participated in State level Commerce Idol competition organized by City C.U.Shah College Ahmedabad on 7th January 2019.Sourav Jain from semester 6 secured 3rd position out of 64 students from 28 colleges. There were three rounds. The first was an objective test followed by Group Discussion and Interview. Sourav Jain was awarded with certificate and trophy.

SPORTS ACHIEVEMENTS

Faculty of Commerce B.Com (Hons.) Sem3 student, Maana Patel won 3 gold medals in 50, 100, 200 m back stroke with new national record in 100 m back stroke with time of 1.04.33, she broke her own record of 1.04.83 at 72 Glenmark Senior Aquatic championship held at Trivandrum from 19 September to 23 September. Currently she is the fastest back stroke swimmer in India.

Sem 1 student Diksha Dwivedi was selected for 79th All India University Nationals, Manglore in Javelin Throw. She won silver medal in 30th West Zone Junior Athletics Championship organized in Raipur.

Sem 1 students Smit Patel and Rahul Patel got selected in Cooch Behar Trophy Under 19 Gujarat Cricket Team.

Sem-3 student Dhruvil Keswani represented India for speed skating at 18th Asian Roller Skating Championship held at South Korea between 4 -14th September 2018. He stood 3rd at one of the races (Relay 3000 Meters) and won bronze medal for India. There were 5 countries participating in this race, which were Japan, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Iran & India.

Students of Faculty of Commerce (B.com Hons.) participated in India’s largest Financial Management Festival MONETA 2018 organized by R.A Podar College of Commerce, at Mumbai from 12th December 2018 to 15th December 2018. 36 colleges across India participated in the competition. Faculty of Commerce B.Com (Honours) earned the magnificent Triumph

This year once again Faculty of Commerce B.Com (Honours) reached the pinnacle of folk dance competitions in three various events namely at Sports Club, Gulmohar Greens Club and Gymkhana Club. FOC B.Com (Honours) always comes up with something remarkable on the stage and this year was no difference. The theme of the performance was “Khushboo Gujarat na Garbani” which represented various styles of garbas of Gujarat staged together in a wonderfully choreographed spectacle. Various performing arts and educational institutions of the state participated in the competitions.

FOC B.Com(Honours) bagged 1st position in the categories of Best Performance and Best Costume (Khushboo Gujarat na Garbani) and 3rd position (Nagaru folk) at Sports Club on 7th October, 2018.

The institute also secured 2nd position in the categories of Best Performance at Gulmohar Greens Club on 8th October, 2018.

It also won 1st position in the categories of Best Performance at Gymkhana Club on 12th October, 2018.

The shows comprised of the elite audience of the city. The performance of B.Com (Honours) was purist’s delight which showcased every form of typical authentic Garba from centuries in the sheris of Gujarat which was applauded by the audience. Faculty of Commerce participated in JOSH 2018, a national level Inter collegiate competition organized by NAEMD held on 18th September 2018 at GMDC hall. Nidhi Solanki, student of SEM-5 won Mr and Miss Academia (MMA) personality contest and she also won student choice award. SEM-1 Student Dhruti Shah won Miss 10 title. Niddhi Solanki will be going to Mumbai for Competing at National level. In Fashion show, college bagged 2nd runner up prize, In Western Dance 1st Runner up and in Bollywood dance 1st prize. Our Institute won Over all Best College of the year 1st runner up and bagged prize worth Rs.31,000. Around 60 students participated which includes group of dancers, models, designers, volunteers and fine art students.

Faculty of Commerce PROVES IT METTLE ONCE AGAIN AT SABARMATI FESTIVAL 2018-SECOND EDITION

Six days long Sabarmati festival season -2 kicked off on 17th January 2018 amidst great galore. Faculty of Commerce actively participated in various events organised and won prizes. It was a matter of great honour for Team FOC to perform in the Finale on the bank of historic river Sabarmati amidst the cheer of large audience. Faculty of Commerce folk dance team performed “Khushboo Gujarat Ni” showcasing the flavour of different folk dances of Gujarat mesmerized the audience with the co-ordination, energy and enthusiasm. The team won the numero uno position and the cash prize of Rs.11, 000/-in presence of renowned dancer Master Marzi Pestonji. “ARADHANA MA ADHYA SHAKTI NI”: A WINNING PERFORMANCE

Faculty of Commerce performed “Aradhana Ma Adhya Shakti Ni” on 27th September at Navratri Mahotsav 2017 organised by Ellisbridge Gymkhana and won 1st prize and cash prize Rs. 15,000/- .There were 13 participating teams from different colleges and professional Garba institutions of the state. The entire performance made the audience spell bound with its Dance Synchronisation and Variations. The winning performance was invited to give a guest performance at Friends Garba one of the most Prestigious Garba venue in our City. MODEL UNITED NATIONS (MUN) COMPETITION 2017

Faculty of Commerce participated in national level competition Model united nations (MUN) organised by H.L College of commerce from 11th August 2017 to 13th August 2017. It was three days formal event.8 students participated from institute. All participants were given different committees to present. INT AND GUJARAT SAMACHAR DRAMA COMPETITION

Faculty of Commerce performed ‘Ghemar Ni Geeta’, a one act play written and directed by Mr. Abhishek Shah and performed by a team of 40 students in INT and Gujarat Samachar Inter-College One- Act Competition on 10th February, 2017 at Thakorebhai Desai Hall. The play has contemporary social relevance and caters to one of the theatre’s function of social awakening. ‘Ghemar Ni Geeta ’ was initially performed in the semi-finals of the one-act play competition on 28th January, 2017, at Thakorebhai Desai hall. Amongst 28 plays performed in the semi-final round, it was adjudged as one of the best 6 plays to enter the finals. In the final competition, Faculty of Commerce won the following prizes:

Faculty of Commerce secured prizes in as many as 17 different events in GLS University Inter- College Youth Festival, ‘Asmita-2017’. The festival was held from 4th to 6th February, 2017. The college also won the general championship trophy as well as the championship trophy for Performing Arts. The valedictory function was on 6th February, 2017, in which the winners were felicitated with trophies. The students of Faculty of Commerce won in various events from the field of Fine Arts, Music, Dance, Fashion and Theatre. A renowned folk musician Mr. Yogesh Gadhvi was the chief guest who gave away the prizes and trophies to the students.

COGNOSCENCE 2017

Faculty of Commerce participated in ‘COGNOSCENCE 2017’: a National Economics Festival organized by St.Xaviers’ College, Ahmedabad on 21st-22nd January 2017. It incorporated various events like Perspective, The Quiz Machine, Wall Street Warriors, Treasure Hunt, Peek-A-Boo, Kaleidoscope, Mock Parliament, and Tussle of States. Among them, Sudeshna Bose, Bhumika Paholi, Rashi Agarwal, Neeraj Ahuja(Semester 6) won the 1st position in Perspective and Arhan Shah (Semester 2), Vaibhav Chandani, Bhavesh Chainani (Semester 6) won the 3rd position in Perspective. Arhan Shah, Pallavi Samtani, Jigyasha (Semester 2) and Vaibhav Chandani (Semester 6) won the 2nd position in Wall Street Warriors. Urja Kanjani (F.Y.B.Com), Ashish Ailani and Karan Gaglani (Semester 4), Bhavesh Chainani (T.Y.B.Com) bagged the 1st position in Treasure Hunt. Jasnit Sigh (Semester 4) won the 2nd position in Peek-A-Boo. Under the guidance and encouraging support of Faculty of Economics: Assistant Prof. Anjali Trivedi, the students participated and bagged prizes.

Alka Ramsinghani bagged the title of Commerce Idol and Niraj Ahuja secured the 2nd runner up position in a Commerce Idol competition organized by City C. U. Shah Commerce College on 9th January,2017. They were awarded with trophies and certificates.

MONETA 2016

A contingent of 12 members of Management Club of Faculty of Commerce participated in MONETA 2016, India’s largest financial festival organized by R.A. Podar College, Mumbai from 8th to 11th December 2016. The college stood 1st Runner Up among 30 colleges that participated from different cities of India. A total of 12 different competitions were kept in MONETA. Faculty of Commerce contingent bought “Public Relations” as a sector for the entire competition for the cheapest possible price that helped the contingent to finish at the current position. Dean Dr. Ashwin Purohit’s blessings and support throughout the journey kept every participant motivated to achieve the common goal. With Guidelines of the faculty Dr. Krupa Bhatt and accompanying faculty Dr. Bhavik Swadia along with all the members of contingent, the college was able to achieve the 1st Runner up position.

FOLK DANCE ACHIEVEMENTS

Faculty of Commerce performed “Khusboo Gujarat Ni” – a folk dance, in the Gujarat state’s most prestigious folk dance competition “Mayor Padma Vijay Garba Spardha- 2016”, organised by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation held at Bhadra Fort on 6th October, 2016. Faculty of Commerce was crowned the winner, lifted the prestigious trophy and was given a cash prize of Rs.25, 000 by Shree Guatam Shah Mayor, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Our ever aspiring and benevolent Shree Sudhir Nanavatisir, President, GLS University, acknowledged this prestigious victory and showered his appreciation and love for the students by announcing a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 which enthused the students to keep on striving for excellence.

“Khusboo Gujarat Ni” won the first prize at Sports Club Garba Competition in best performance category. The folk dance was further invited to be performed at “Elite Friends Group” on 9th October, 2016 and it was applauded by a huge audience. “Khusboo Gujarat Ni”, a highly appreciated folk dance depicts various folk flavours of Gujarat. The dance was choreographed by Prof Kruti Paritosh along with Kuldeep Shukla and Khushboo Shukla. The performers were Kruti Paritosh, Stuti Gandhi, Purvi Bhavsar, Megha Nihlani, Hima Darji, Shriya Patel, Hinal Shah, Devashi Vora, Samrudhhi Kavalanekar, Dharrmi Shah, Harita Mistry, Drashti Bhatt, Unnati Pandya, Shivani Fulpagar, Jaimil Joshi, Tpana Maheshwari, Chaitanya Patel, Utsav Solanki, Akhil Mehta, Yash Sagra, Sachin Gaud, Mansi Chhapia,Mayuri Thakkar,Malav Baria. “Khusboo Gujarat Ni” was coordinated by Prof. Kruti Paritosh.

STUDENT IDOL 2016

Megha Nehlani student of Faculty of Commerce, won the title of Miss Student Idol of the year 2016 at the ALL INDIA FINALE of the event JOSH @BHAIDAS HALL, Vile Parle West organized by NAEMD Mumbai. She reached to the national level competition of Student Idol held at Mumbai for which participants were selected from different cities of INDIA. After competing with different talents like mimicry, western dance, singing etc at Ahmedabad level, Megha made up to reach to INDIA FINALE of STUDENT IDOL with the love for classical dance-Kathak.

Faculty of Commerce bagged the Best College of the Year runners up trophy at JOSH 2016 organized by NAEMD on 21st September 2016. Faculty of Commerce won the following prizes:

PROTSAHAN 2016

Faculty of Commerce participated in Protsahan 2016 – An Inter-college competition conducted by Ganpat University where the B.com semester 1 students Vaishnavi Iyer and Akshita Jain, secured the third position in Plan De Negocios – Business Plan . It was on making and marketing/launching of “manual namkeen making sancha”. Out of 33 teams, they cleared the qualifier/elimination round by presenting their plan and secured their place in Top 10. In the Final round, they presented their plan through Power Point Presentation followed by a Question-Answer round.

VISHLESHAN PLUS 2016

Faculty of Commerce participated in Vishleshan Plus 16 –the National Level Management Festival organised by N.R.I.B.A. As it was a national level event, many management institutes and Business schools from all over India had participated in the events. Synapse 2016

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) participated in Masquerade in Synapse 2016 organized by Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology from 25th to 28th February, 2016. The students performed a hindi play ‘Hum Zinda Hain’ written and directed by Mr. Abhishek Shah in ‘Proscenium’ (Stage Play) and bagged the 1st Prize. The lead actor, Parikshit Tamaliya won the ‘Best Actor’ award. They also participated in ‘Naivete’ (Street Play).

GLS University Sports Meet:

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) successfully organized GLS University Sports Meet on 20th February, 2016 at Sheth C.N.Vidhyalaya in which more than 500 students participated in various sports and games like Running, Discus Throw, Shot Put, Long Jump, Football and Basketball. On the same day, the college also organized I.M.Nanavati Inter-college Cricket Tournament for the colleges of GLS University.

  • SMPIC Girls Athletics team got championship in GLS University Inter-College Sports Meet.

The Department of Economics of St. Xavier’s College Ahmedabad organized a two day Inter- college state level Festival, Cognoscence 2016 on 11th and 12th Feb. Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) students Viveksingh Pabla and Nakshee shah won the third prize in “Arthmanthan”, an event based on virtual use of national economic resources. Nakshee Shah and Jahnavi Desai further won the third prize in “Use of Entrepreneurship”, an event based on business plan. They were awarded with trophies and certificates at the valedictory function.

INT and Gujarat Samachar Drama Competition

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) secured the 2nd Best Play Award in the prestigious INT and Gujarat Samachar Drama Completion wherein the students performed ‘Mowgli…..bas Mowgli’, written and directed by Shri Abhishek Shah. Harsh Thakkar was adjudged the 2nd Best Actor in male category. Among the 24 plays performed in the semi-finals, ‘Mowgli….bas Mowgli’ was selected amongst the six finalists. The finale was held on 8th and 9th February, 2016 at Thakorebhai Desai Hall.

Devanshu Vakil and Jaslinkaur Bagga from Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) won the Best team Trophy in Prestigious Inter-collegiate Mahatma Gandhi Elocution Competition organized on 13th Feb.,2016 by H L College of Commerce. More than 15 state colleges participated in the competition to talk on ‘If incredible India should resort to Gandhian practices of communication to resolve internal conflicts’. Heena J. Navani from Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) won the 3rd prize in Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Debate competition organized on 24th Jan.,2016 by Gujarat Prantiy Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti, Ahmedabad. She was awarded with cash prize and certificate.

Winner of HLCC MUN Debate Competition

Devanshu Vakil from Semester II was awarded with “High Commendation” and a cash prize of Rs 2500 for bagging the 1st prize in HLCC MUN debate competition organized by H L College of Commerce on 22, 23 and 24th of January,2016 .

District level winners – Young Voter’s Festival 2016

Election Commission of Gujarat organizes ‘Young Voter’s Festival’ every year for the students of schools and colleges. Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) student Viveksingh Pabla secured the first place consecutively for the third year. This time he won in ‘Digital Infographics’ with a prize money of Rs 2500/-. Hetvi Limbad and Rajdeepsingh Bunait also secured the first and the second position with a prize money of Rs. 2500/- and Rs 2000/-respectively at District level in ‘Drawing’. They were felicitated on 25th Jan 2016, National Voter’s Day, by the Collector of Ahmedabad Shri Rajkumar Beniwal.

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC)’s Versatile Student: Viveksingh Pabla

    • Viveksingh Pabla from Semester 6 secured the 1st prize in ‘Talaash 2016’, a state level Inter-college festival organized by Silver Oak Group of Institutes, Ahmedabad on 8th& 9th Feb 2016 and was felicitated with a prize of an Air Conditioner and a certificate of appreciation. This is the second time he has been declared as the winner at ‘Talaash Festival’.

    • He was declared as the winner for the third consecutive time in the Badminton doubles category. Viveksingh participated in Khel Mahakumbh 2015, a state level sports competition and secured the second position in Javelin throw in West Zone.

  • Viveksingh Pabla was awarded with the International Centennial Award, by the International President of Lions Clubs International, Dr. Jitsuhiro Yamada of Japan, for his selfless services to the poor and needy people. He was also felicitated with a Diamond Lapel Pin and cash prize of Rs. 15000/- by the Lions Governor of Bangladesh Mr. Shah Alam Babul and Vice Governor of Lions Club Gujarat Dr. Yogesh Dave.

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) shows its Might atMaiden SABARMATI FESTIVAL 2016

Maiden Sabarmati river festival kicked off on 6th January 2016 amidst great galore.

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) actively participated in most of the events organised and won severalmajor prizes. It was a matter of great honour for Team Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) to perform in the Finale on the bank of historic river Sabarmati amidst the cheer of large audience. SMPIC folk dance team performed” NAGARU“(a Garbo) and a “MER RASS” as professionals and mesmerized the Audience with the co-ordination, energy and Enthusiasm and the team won the numero Uno Position and the grand prize of Rs.21, 000/-.

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) Western Group Dance team gave a Dancing tribute to “AMDAVAD”. The Dance Team Performed on the Song of RJ.Dhwanit and this dance too was applauded by the huge audience.It was a very intricately choreographed by symphony which played a dancing tribute to various facets of AAPNU AMDAVAD.SMPIC western dance Team won the 2nd grand prize of Rs.11000/-.

In solo dance competition Kathanki Raval of Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) clinched the 1st prize of Rs.11,000/- by performing classical dance on the theme of Gujarat.

Nidhi Mehta of Smpic won the 1st prize of Rs.11, 000/- in solo singing competition.

Moreover, 300 volunteers from SMPIC participated in whole event. The organisers directed volunteers to manage the Sabarmati Festival event at different venues of Ahmedabad. On account of this the student Volunteer managed and displayed their great management skills at different venues like Paldi, University Convention Centre, Sarkhej Roza, Vastrapur Amphi theater, Thakorebhai Desai hall, Tagore hall. Various events volunteered by SMPIC volunteers were marked by Governor O. P. Kohliji, Hon’able CM Anandiben Patel, Gulzarsaab Shree Pankaj Udhas, Tarak Mehta Team, Shree Arvind Vegda etc. The organisers took special note of the students working enthusiastically in each circumstance for the same organisers appreciated the efforts of the volunteers and showed their gratitude towards greater participation in all the events.

This entire event was guided by Dean Dr.Ashwin Purohit and Co-ordinated by Prof. Vijay Tripathi, Prof.Kruti Paritosh, Prof.Bhavana Parwani and Prof KeyurVora.

FEMINA MISS INDIA

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) Sem-6 Student Vinita Panchal is selected for Femina Miss India finale held in Mumbai on 23rd December 2015. Radisson blue was the event partner for the ‘Miss India 2016 ‘Ahmedabad auditions.

The event was judged by Aditi Arya (Miss india 2015) and Shyamal Shodhan(designer Shyamalbhumika). There were more than 200 entries overall from Ahmedabad out of which only 12 contestants were shortlisted in semi finals. Vinita Panchal was one of the three girls selected from Gujarat in the last round.

MONETA 2015

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) participated in Moneta 2015: A four day National Level Financial Market based Management Festival organised by R. A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbaifrom 3rd December to 7th December 2015. Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) students Aditya Rahandani and Shashank Sharma won the 2nd prize in Investment challenge and Shashank Sharma bagged the 2nd prize in CFO challenge against many other participating commerce colleges and top B-schools like Narsee Monjee(NMIMS),H.R College of Commerce and Economics. Other Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) participants reached up to the finals in all other competitions like Synergies,The Boardroom Challenge ,Carbon Credit Czar, ,Bullring , Black Gold,The Elevator Pitch,The Hour , The Financial Planner and the Aurum Hunt.

Mr. and Ms. Academia 2015

Pranali Brahambhat, Sem-2 Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) student stood 1st runner up at National level Personality Contest ‘Mr. & Miss. Academia’ organized by NAEMD held in Mumbai. Finalists were scrutinized from more than 1000 entries from the entire country through various rounds. Renowned names like Mr. Keyur Desai, Pooja Gor, Freddy Daruwal, Pravin Joshi to name a few were in the panel of judges.

Gujarat Rajya Sangeet Natak Academy Drama (One Act) Competition

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC)’s Drama “Khovayel Chhe” won three prizes in a State level Drama (One Act) Competition organized by Gujarat Rajya Sangeet Natak Academy on 04th November 2015 at Modasa.

The team bagged the 1st Prize for the Best Play and Best Original Script. Harsh Thakkar got the 2nd prize as the Best Actor. This drama was also 1st prize winner in INT and Gujarat Samachar State Level Drama Competition.

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) FOLK DANCE TEAM CLINCHING ALL THE MAJOR GARBA EVENTS OF THE TOWN IN 2015:

On 12th October, 2015 the Folk Dance Team of Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) participated in Sports Club Garba Competition held at GMDC Conventional Hall under the guidance of Dean Dr. Ashwin Purohit and Prof. Kruti Paritosh.

16 teams of various prestigious institutions took part and among them Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) Folk Dance team bagged the 1st position in the Best Performance category for “Khushboo Rajasthan ki: The Flavours of Rajasthan” and the 2nd postion for “Vir Raas: An Energetic Performance by boys”

“Khushboo Rajasthan ki” also bagged the 2nd postion in the Best Costume category. This remarkable history was witnessed by the President of GLS University Shri Sudhir Nanavati. The splendid performances of Folk Dance team were highly appreciated by the dignitaries and the judges.

“Khushboo Rajasthan ki” once again secured the 1st position for the Best Performance at Garba Mahotsav organized by Gymkhana Club on 15th October 2015 amongst professional groups of the state.

“Khushboo Rajasthan ki” was choreographed by Prof. Kruti Paritosh, Kuldeep Shukla, Khushbu Shukla and “Vir Raas” was Choreographed by Prof.Kruti Paritosh, Jaypalsingh Zala and students of Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC). The costumes of Rajasthani dance were designed by Smt.Bijal Shah.

The Folk Dance team also performed at GLS University’s Navratri Mahotsav on 11th October, 2015 at University convention Hall.

JOSH – 2015

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) bagged Best College of the year award and won prize money worth Rs.1,01,000 for the 8th time at JOSH 2015, organised by NAEMD. Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) stood 1st in Fashion show, 1st in Western Dance and 1st in Bollywood Dance. Our B.ComSem-5 Student Nikita Ahuja won Audience Choice award and our B.Com sem-3 student HetviLimbad bagged the title of ‘College Idol’ competition. M.Com sem-3 student Riya Subodh became 2nd runners up in the same.

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) proved it again at Mr.and Miss.Academia – A personality contest organised by NAEMD. Our student Mayank Shah got the best dancer award and our sem-1 student PranaliBrahmbatt stood 1st.

Youth Festival

Gujarat University Ellisbridge South Zone Youth Festival was held on 9th, 10th and 11th September, 2015 at H.A. College of Commerce. The students of Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) won in Folk Dance, Classical Instrumental (Percussion) and Western Group Song.

The next level, i.e. Inter Zonal Youth Festival was held at JG College of Commerce on 2nd and 3rd October, 2015. Sheth Haridas Achratlal Elocution Competition 2015

Jaslinkaur Bagga won the 2nd prize in Sheth Haridas Achratlal Elocution Competition organized by H.A.College of Commerce on 18th September 2015. She expressed her views on “Is Gandhian Ideology relevant in contemporary times?”She was awarded with a certificate and a cash prize.

Prin. T.J.Rana Trophy ( Pustak Gyan Pratibha Shodh kasauti)-An Open Book Management Competition

The competition was organized by City C.U.Shah Commerce College (G.L.S) on 24th September 2015. It was divided into 3 rounds. In the first round, 10 students were selected through a written test. The second round was of Group Discussion followed by the third round of Personal Interview. Jasleen Kaur Bagga of sem-5 from Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) won the first prize in this competition. She was awarded a trophy along with a certificate.

Protsahan 2015

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) competed in PROTSAHAN 2015 – National Level Management cum Cultural Festival on September 27 & 28, 2015 organized by Ganapat University wherein students pursuing Graduation and Post-graduation in Management and other disciplines across the country participated. The students participated in various events like Product Launch, Spin the Minute, Biz Quiz, Bollywood Quiz, Money Matrix, Rangoli and Team Building. Among those, the events Bollywood Quiz, Product Launch, Team Building and Spin the minute reached to the Finals.

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) students bagged the third prize in Product Launch in Protsahan. The participants were Reema Tharwani, Dimple Adwani and Avinash Daryani.

Faculty of Commerce(SMPIC) students participated in Vishleshan Plus 2015: the Management Festival organized by NRBBA of GLS University on 18th and 19th of September 2015. “Vijaypadma Hindi Debate Competition 2015”

Our Students Priya Pandey (Sem 6) and Rina Kumari Limbola (Sem 2) participated in “Vijaypadma Hindi Debate Competition 2015” organized by C.U.Shah Arts College. They expressed their views on the topic “Pure Rashtramai Sarkari Tantramai Hindi Bhasha Anivarya Honichahiye”. SMPIC was declared the Second winning Institute and was awarded “N.R.Construction Shield” Trophy. In addition to this, Priya Pandey bagged the Second prize in Individual Best Speaker Category.

• INT AND GUJARAT SAMACHAR DRAMA COMPETITION

SMPIC’S play ‘KHOVAYEL CHE’, performed at INT Drama competition, organized by Indian National Theatre, Mumbai and Gujarat Samachar, Ahmedabad, on 4th February, 2015, at Thakorebhai Desai Hall, bagged 5 prizes which include trophies, cash prizes and certificates at this prestigious drama competition.

The play was written and directed by Abhishek Shah. The play upholds the dignity of the basic human emotion – love and talks about religion conversion, the current burning issue of the society. Team Smpic comprising of around 30 students convincingly portrayed the journey of the main character Ashok Makwana to Alexender Macwan to Altaf Mansuri in search of happiness and finally the pain of having lost his identity.

• WOMEN @ WORK, Goonj …uthi awaaz, uthe kadam 2015

Goonj is an inter-school and college festival aimed at exploring the gender debate through various competitions, organized jointly by Nazariya and Natrani. The idea is to provide a platform where students can ponder on gender question, truly understand the meaning of equality and articulate change with other students. The competition was hosted in clusters of schools and culminated in the finale hosted at Natarani, Ahmedabad and an exhibition of the best art and writing of the students on International Women’s Day 2015. SMPIC participated in ‘Shake a Street’ (skit) at Rangmandal hall on 15th February, 2015, Sunday and secured the 1st prize in the competition. The students were awarded with individual medals, college trophy, cash prize and certificates.

  AM TALENT HUNT CROWNED SMPIC CHAMPIONS

S.M.Patel Institute Of Commerce marked its supremacy once again at the Ahmedabad Mirror Talent Hunt-2015.It is an annual event held amongst the colleges of states of Gujarat. The students eagerly await this event all through the year. 18 teams from SMPIC were short listed in the preliminary round held at the college.

Of those 18 teams, 5 teams made it amongst Top 12 which contested the Grand Finale at the Karnavati Club, Ahmedabad on 22nd May, 2015.

It was a dazzling night for the students to remember hosted by Manish Paul. The event was judged by celebrity judges like Terence Louis; ace Bollywood choreographer, RJ Dhvanit; Renowned RJ and now a film actor and Ms .Dipal Trivedi ; Chief Editor, Ahmedabad Mirror.

All the five SMPIC finalist teams gave their Best shot at the finale. Hetvi Limbad(F.Y.B.Com) was the star of evening by winning the first prize of Rs. 1.5 lacs and glittering trophy amongst the cheer of audience of around 5000. She played Mouth Organ, Drums and Guitar simultaneously for 5 minutes and mesmerized the audience and judges. She was unanimously declared number one. The second prize winners “Mavericks” (Nidhip Shah & group) gave a dancing tribute to the Indian Cricket Team and their act was an enthralling and spectacular which lifted the audience and judges spell bound. They won cash prize of Rs.1 lac and a sparkling trophy.

Other finalists from SMPIC: Aflattoon entertainers (Jaimil Joshi & Group), Trio (Utsav, Chaitanya & Akhil), a solo performer (Utsav Solanki) were also applauded by the audience and jury. Smpic’s Kathanki Raval, Nawabs Group & Sur group were also rewarded with Trophies for their noteworthy performances.

Miss Chaos Personality Contest Winner at IIM-A

Maitri Thakkar secured the third position in Miss Chaos Personality Contest at IIM-A.

Mr. and Ms. Academia 2014

SMPIC students continued their success story at a National level Competition for the title Mr. and Miss Academia organized by NAEMD at Mumbai. Mr. and Ms. Academia is a Good Looks Pageant with a difference; it embodies the spirit of educated youth.

The winners of all the preliminary competitions were called to Mumbai and were groomed for a week. This contest was held in the presence of Renowned Celebrity Judges. Rahul Meghnani, SEM V student won the first prize of Mr.Academia and also bagged ‘Mr. Robust’ title. Naman Gor, SEM III student bagged the first runner up position and was also awarded as the ‘Best Dancer’ title by Shaimak Davar. Riya Subodh M.Com.student, was declared the first runner up and was given the title ‘Ms Perfect Ten’ by Pawar Sabraval, celebrity Fitness trainer.

Clean and Clear Fresh Face 2014

The Competition Clean and Clear Fresh face 2014 organised by The Times of India had 24 contestants in the Finals. The competition was held on 20th September at Gulmohar Park mall. This competition is held all over the country in different cities and then all the city winners compete at all India Fresh Face Competition. Naman Gor, Sem-3 became the winner of Ahmedabad Times Fresh Face 2014 and will now represent Gujarat in all over India competition which will be held in Mumbai.

JOSH 2014

23rd September, 2014 will be marked as a Golden day in the History of SMPIC. It was for the seventh time consecutively, SMPIC was awarded the “Best College” by NAEMD. SMPIC has made an authoritative statement by bagging the Best College title year after year.

This time the theme of the event was “Carnival” and SMPIC students were at its Carnival Best. This is one event in the city which gives great exposure to the students to showcase their talents like etc.

Motto of the college is to mould minds and shape careers and many of the students have made a mark on national and inter- national level by this event “JOSH”.

The winners at the city level will be called upon for a national competition which will be held in Mumbai in later part of the year.

GTU Techfest 2015 Winners

Vivek Pabla and Priya Pandey secured the 3rd position in ‘Ace of the Empire’, an event related to management of virtual money and building a well-planned city in ‘GTU Techfest 2015’- an inter college festival organized by L. D. Engineering College, Ahmedabad on 27th and 28th March 2015.

Renaissance 2015

B.K. School of Business Management organized ‘Renaissance 2015’, a state level inter-college festival from 27th Feb to 1st March 2015. SMPIC students Chirag Vagrecha and Vivek Pabla participated in Kaleidoscope, a competition related to spot photography and both of them secured the first and the second positions respectively. They were awarded with certificates and prizes worth Rs. 2000/- each by Mr. Milan Barad and Mr. P. K. Pratham, head of Photophilics, weekly photo walk group of Ahmedabad.

El-Dorado 2015 Management Festival

Animesh Agrawal and Neitesh Jamwal from Sem VI won the 1st runners up position in Business Quiz in “El-Dorado 2015 Management Festival” at Shayona Institute of Business Management on 23rd February 2015 and were awarded with a trophy, certificate and cash prize of Rs 2000.

Business Plan at EDI Gandhinagar

SMPIC students Ronak Jain, Yash Gohel, Mitesh Chhabaria, Niraj Ahuja and Maitri Thakkar won the first prize in Business Plan Competition held on 21st February 2015 at EDI Gandhinagar. Out of 80 selected plans SMPIC team got the First prize in the competition, in which they competed with prestigious national level Institutes.

Vishal Chitlangya from M.Com Sem II secured the 2nd position in ‘Face to Face’, a mock interview competition in IMAGE-2015 organized by GLS(J.P.SHAH)IBA wherein participants were judged on the basis of their bio data and personal interview.

Commerce Idol 2015:

Manasi Chhapia from sem VI secured the second prize and Pinky Ram Singhania from Sem VI secured the third prize in ‘Commerce Idol’, a state level competition organized by C.U. Shah City Commerce College. They were awarded with Trophy and Certificate.

MONETA 2014

Students of S.M.Patel Institute participated in “MONETA 2014”; a National Level Financial Market based management festival at R A Podar College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. There were around thirty colleges participated from all over India. SMPIC students participated in competitions like Bullring, Carbon Credit Czar, Elevator Pitch, Blackgold, Mutual Fund Challenge, Ideas That Click, Battle of Nations, The Spokesperson, CFO Challenge. All the teams of SMPIC reached to the finals in all the above competitions. In “Battle of Nation”, Krunal Shah and Vivek Pabla were selected in Top Four Best Performing Teams. They were awarded with appreciation certificates.

PROTASAHAN 2014

SMPIC students participated in “Protsahan 2014”, National Level Management and Cultural Festival organised by V.M. Patel Institute of Management and Centre for Management Studies (Ganpat University) on 26th and 27th> September 2014. Kunal Shah from Sem-3 won the third prize in Business Quiz Competition, in which around 150 students from B-Schools participated. Vivek Pabla from Sem 3 and Priya Pandey from Sem 5 won Special Appreciation prizes for their Commendable performances in various events. Another team from Sem 1 also reached to the Finals in “Prarambh-the Product Launch Competition”.

SMPIC Bagged the First Prize In Ad. Film Making At State Level in Young Voters’ Festival-2014

Viveksingh Pabla bagged the first prize at Yuva Matdar Mahotsav-2014 in Gujarat state organized by the Election Commission of India for the second time for making the Best Short Film on Young Voters. He was awarded with a certificate of appreciation and cash prize of Rs. 25,000/- by the Governor of Gujarat State Shri Om Prakash Kohli on 25th Jan 2015.

District level winners – Young Voter’s Festival 2014-15

SMPIC bagged three prizes at district level in Young Voters’ Festival-2014 organized by Election Commission of Gujarat which comprises of various competitions like Ad Film Making, Mascot Making, Jingles, etc. Viveksingh Pabla and Animesh Agrawal of SMPIC won the first prize at District level in Ad Film Making and Mascot Making respectively. They were awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 2500 and certificate of merit. Kavisha Doshi secured the second place in Mascot Making and awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1500. Team of 21 from SMPIC, sent by Government of Gujarat performed 5 folk dances at Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal, Udaipur, Rajasthan where participants from different states of India presented their folk dance. Prof. Kruti Paritosh coordinated the entire visit.

FOLK DANCE AND GARBA

SMPIC once again won prizes in Folk Dance event organized by Sports Club on 24th October,2014 at Gujarat University Convention Hall by securing the second and the third position in “HUDO” and “BEDLU” respectively in the Best Performance category, under the guidance of Prin Dr. Ashwin Purohit ,Prof. Kruti Paritosh and Dr.Shailja Tiwari.

Billiards & Snooker Champion

Dhvaj Haria from Sem VI won a Bronze medal in Asian Under 21 Snooker Championship, stood 10th & 22nd in World Billiards Championship, London, was in Top 16 in Australian Open Billiards Championship and Jim Williamson Memorial Championship, London, and in Top 32 in World Under 21 Snooker Championship at Dubai. He won Gold medal in 39th National Junior Billiards and Silver medal in 39th National Junior Snooker Championship held at Lucknow. He stood 5th in National Senior Billiards and was in Top 16 in National Senior Snooker Championship held at Kolkata. He also participated in Jockey Club Invitation Billiards held at Singapore.

Boxing

Aniruddh Gohel won an Inter-College and Inter-Zonal Boxing Championship held at LPU University, Jalandhar on 25th Feb.,2015 and was selected for West Zone Inter University.

Judo

Karan Madhawani won bronze in an Inter-College Judo Championship.

Tennis

Nandani Pandya played West Zone University Tournament at IIS University, Jaipur and secured the 3rd place and later Nandani Pandya and Priyanka Maheshwari went to play All India University Tennis Tournament at Amity University, Noida.

Volleyball

Margi Chauhan was selected in Gujarat University Volleyball team.

Winner of Badminton Tournament

Viveksingh Pabla of SMPIC secured the first position in open Badminton tournament for the second time consecutively; organized every year in January by ‘Welfare Association of Reserve Bank of India’. He was awarded with cash prize and certificate by the General Manager of the RBI Mr. Ajay Kumar Sinha and RBI Colony President Mr. Rajiv Karir for his achievement on 26th Jan 2015.

Success Story Continues…

Prachi Prajapati won accolades for SMPIC. She clinched the Gold Medal in the West Zone Junior National Championship of Discus Throw at Raipur, Chhattisgarh and got selected for the National Junior Athletics Championship at Vijaywada. She also won the Gold Medal in the Women’s Open Discus Throw Championship at Himatnagar.

Siddharth Trivedi stood First in an Inter-college and an Inter-zonal competition of Best Physic at Gujarat University. He also secured the Second position in an Inter-college and an Inter-zonal Powerlifting Competition at Gujarat University.

Aatif Hakimji stood First in an Inter-college and Second in an Inter-zonal competition of Powerlifting at Gujarat university.

Cricket

Rohanshi Amin & Priyanka Maheshwari got selected in Women’s Cricket Association of Gujarat (National Level). They will represent SMPIC at Mathura on October 12.

Four Students of SMPIC Parthiv Thakkar,Rushi Panchal, Divya Shah and Manan Thakor were selected in different levels of Cricket. Parthiv Thakkar got selected at District level. Divya shah and Rushi Panchal were in the probable of State team and Manan Thakor has been selected in Gujarat state Cricket team.

SMPIC Shooting Star: “Aaditya Zula”

Aaditya Zula, student of Sem-3, Pistol and Single Trap Shooter; clinched 05 Gold Medals, 04 Silver Medals & 01 Bronze Medal in all Senior as well as Junior Pistol events in the 50th Gujarat State Shooting Championship Competition in 2014.

He secured the Top Position in 25Mtr Standard Pistol at the 24th All India GV Mavlankar shooting Championship Competition(Pre-Nationals).

He will participate in the 58th National Shooting Championship Competition which is going to be held in Pune from 12th December’ 2014.

SMPIC at AHMEDABAD MIRROR TALENT HUNT

S.M.Patel Institute of Commerce once again proved its mettle by securing 4 positions amongst top 18 in the finals of the Ahmedabad Mirror Talent Hunt Competition.
It was a fierce battle of various talents amongst the college students of the city fighting out for the top honours. Around 400 teams qualified for the semifinals. Out of which 18 finalists will perform at the Grand Finale on 19th May, 2014.

Abhivyakti-2014

SMPIC students  participated in state level competitions organised by Indus University named “Äbhivyakti 2014.”Various formal and informal events were conducted,  in which six teams of  SMPIC won following positions .Three groups of SMPIC headed by Jaimil Joshi, Asma Qureshi and Kunal  Shah stood first in Ad-mad show, Make over-The dress up competition and Treasure hunt. In addition to this, three groups headed by Jaimil Joshi, Dev Shah and Utsav Solanki stood second in Make Over, Ground Zero and Match me-The talent competition also. On the basis of the  best performances’  SMPIC was  awarded grand prize of “The Best College” with trophy and five thousands cash prize.

Inter-college Poetry Recitation Competition at Umiya Arts College

Smpic(Jaimil Joshi) stood 1st in the poetry recitation competition held at Umiya Arts college in which there were 36 participants and won Winner Trophy and 3500 cash prize.

MONETA 2013

SMPIC team participated in “MONETA 2013”, a national level financial market based management festival at R A Podar College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai in November 2013. Around 44 colleges participated from all over India. SMPIC students participated in competitions like Bullring, Blackgold, Mutual Fund Challenge, Ideas That Click, Battle of Nations, The Spokesperson, Board Room Challenge and Picasso. Monil Shah and Viveksingh Pabla won the first prize in Battle of Nations. Khyati Mehta and Akshat jain won the 3rd prize in Mutual Fund Challenge. Parth shah and Monil shah Secured 5th position in Ideas That Click -A business plan. They were awarded with medals and certificates.

PROTASHAHAN 2013

Students of SMPIC participated in “Protashahan 2013”, National Level Management and Cultural Festival organised by Ganapat University on 25th and 26th October 2013. Parag Shah and Purva Rewlani won the second prize in Bollywood Quiz. Students were awarded trophy as well as cash prize of Rs.1500. Two teams of SMPIC comprising of Gaganpreet Bagga, Manthan Patel, Farhin Rainiwala ,Himani Jain bagged third prize in Treasure Hunt and both the SMPIC teams were awarded trophy as well as cash prize of Rs.1000. In addition to this, individual appreciation was awarded to Vivek Pabla, Nishith Kumarand and Krunal Shah.

Winner at Inter Collegiate Presentation Competition at J. G. College of Commerce

SMPIC secured 3rd position in “MANEDGE 2014” an inter-collegiate presentation competition organised by J.G. College of commerce. Mansi Battiwala from semester-4 made a presentation on “study on financial management”. She was awarded a trophy with certificate.

Yuva Matdaar Mahotsav 2013
Semi Finals

Vivek Pabla from SMPIC secured second position in Ad film making and Pratik Choksi and group emerged as winners in Flash mob events securing second position in ‘Yuva Matdaar Mahotsav 2013’ a state level competition organized by the Government of Gujarat in August 2013. Both the event winners received a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- and certificate of merit by the Government of Gujarat . Vivek Pabla got selected in state level event of Yuva Mahotsav.

Finals

In “YOUNG VOTERS FESTIVAL- 2013” a state level competition organized by Election commission of Gujarat State, Viveksingh Pabla of SMPIC bagged 1st prize in Ad. Film making competition in Gujarat state and was felicitated on 25th Jan 2014, National Voter’s Day in the presence of the Governor of Gujarat “Dr. Kamla Beniwal” by the Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat “Smt. Anita Karwal” with a certificate of merit and cash prize of Rs. 25,000. He was further felicitated at the flag hoisting event on 26th Jan 2014 by the General Manager of Reserve Bank of India Smt. Rakshadevi for this noteworthy achievement.

Sports Club Garba Competition

SMPIC won the first prize in Rajasthani Folk Dance and 2nd prize in Raas at Sports Club Garba Competition organized on 4th October, 2013 in which more than 18 Institutional and Professional Garba groups participated.

State Level Raas Garba Competition

SMPIC Folk dance team won Ahmedabad District Level Raas Competition at State Level Raas competition organized by Government of Gujarat on 6th October, 2013. SMPIC represented Government of Gujarat at International Dashera Festival Kullu on 14th and 15th October, 2013 organized by Government of Himachal Pradesh.

SMPIC at West Zone Inter- University Youth Festival

SMPIC Folk Dance Team will represent Gujarat University at West Zone Inter-University Youth Festival in December, 2013.

SMPIC Theatre Achievement

SMPIC’s award-winning play “Tu Ladje Anamika”, written and directed by Shri Abhishek Shah, was invited to be performed at M.P.J.I.M.R. Auditorium, Bhavan’s Cultural Centre, Andheri, Mumbai on 3rd August,2013. A special sponsorship of Rs. 25,000 was awarded by Gujarat Rajya Sangeet Natak Academy for the performance. The students have been regularly giving professional performances of the play. The 13th show in Mumbai was a stupendous success and received standing ovation from the audience.

INT Achievement 2014

SMPIC’s production, ‘Kalja Kero Katko’, has been adjudged as 3rd Best Play in INT and Gujarat Samachar Drama Competition . Around 25 plays were performed in a span of four days in the semi-finals. The play was awarded one of the best six plays in the semi-finals. ‘Kalja Kero Katko’ was performed on 30th January, 2014, by a team of 30 students at Thakorebhai Desai Hall. Harsh Thakkar (M.Com) was awarded the Best Actor Award. Devami Pandya (Sem V) was awarded 2nd Best Actress Award. Dishang Sheth (Sem V) was awarded the special Prize of Best Actor in Comic role.

With the support and encouragement of Prin. Dr. Ashwin Purohit, the play was written and directed by Abhishek Shah. The play upholds the dignity of the basic human emotion – love and talks about honour killing.

“Aarangam”

We further participated in ‘Aarangam’, a drama competiton organized by Rangmandal, Aarogya Samiti and Four Clowns. Around 25 plays which included professionals too, were performed in the competition on 3rd February, 2014, at Rangmandal Hall wherein ‘Tu Ladje Anamika’ was adjudged as 2nd Best Play. Abhishek Shah, the writer and director was awarded with a cash prize of 15000 Rs., a trophy and a certificate.

Nandini of T.Y. B.Com. and Priyanka of S.Y. B. Com stood 3rd and 5th in Gujarat University inter college lawn tennis competition and got selected for zonals.
Shooting
Harshal Patel from T.Y. B.Com created a record by winning 6 gold medals and one bronze medal at 49th Gujarat State Shooting Championship on 18th September 2013.
Badminton
Shubham Agrawal stood 3rd in Gujarat University Inter college Badminton Competition and got selected for zonal level.
Namrata stood 6th in Gujarat University Inter college Badminton competition and got selected for zonal level.

Priyanka Maheshwari won the Players of the tournament Prize and Rohanshi Amin won the Bowling Prize. Rohanshi Amin also got selected in Gujarat State U-19 Girls team.

Josh 2013

S.M. Patel Institute of Commerce once again proved that it is far above the rest of the colleges in town by winning the intercollegiate event Josh organized by NAEMD. The college won the First prize in all the categories Fashion show , Michael Jackson at Bollywood and the Indian Dance . The cheer for the college was so loud that the college won the prize for the loudest cheer as well. Principal Dr. Ashwin Purohit and the incharge faculty members Prof. Bhavna Parwani, Prof. Bimal Solanki and Prof. Aashal Bhatt have always motivated the students to bring their best. The college has received tremendous support from the management especially Shri Sudhir Nanavati for excelling in extra curricular activities and encouraging the students by awarding cash prizes.

‘Youngotsav 2013’- Inter Zonal Youth Festival 3rd and 4th October,2013

S. M. Patel Institute of Commerce  hosted Gujarat University Inter-Zonal youth festival ‘Youngotsav 2013’ on 3rd and 4th October, 2013.  Total 27 events were conducted at 7 different venues including College Campus, L. A. Shah College, GLS Skating Rink, GLS Auditorium, H. K. Hall and Thakorebhai Desai Hall.

The Inauguration function was held at Thakorebhai Desai Hall. Shri Sudhir Nanavati, Executive Vice President, GLS, Dr. Mukul Shah, In-charge Vice Chancellor, Gujarat University, and Ms. Pooja Gor, TV Celebrity(‘Pratigya’ fame) and Alumni of SMPIC were among the dignitaries present at the occasion.In the inaugural speech principal, Dr Ashwin Purohit, S.M. Patel Institute of Commerce welcomed all and motivated the students to set high standards for themselves and actively participate in various events. Shri Sudhir Nanavati, in his speech, laid emphasis on the fact that such events brought out the innate abilities of students and that GLS has always focused on all-round development of students. Dr. Mukul Shah stressed on importance of such events for youth in present time in his address.

The event had 1000 to 1200 student participants of different colleges affiliated to Gujarat University across Gujarat during these two days. About 127 colleges of 5 zones took part in Youngotsav. Competitions were organized during the two-day festival in the area of Music, Literary, Theatre, Dance and Fine Arts and winners of Zonal Youth Festival enthusiastically participated in various events.

The Valedictory Function and Prize Distribution were organized at GLS Auditorium. Shri N. R. Shah, Executive Director, GLS, RJ Kunal, renowned Radio Jockey(Radio Mirchi) and Ex-SMPICite, Shri V. K. Chavda, Assist. Director, Youth Welfare Dept., Gujarat University and  Dr.Ashwin Purohit, Principal, S. M. Patel Institute of Commerce  graced the occasion.

INT Gujarat Samachar Inter College Drama Competition

‘Tu Ladje Anamika…’a play written and directed by Abhishek Shah and performed by the students of SMPIC, won the ‘Best Play Award’ in one of the most reputed INT and Gujarat Samachar Drama Competition. Devami Pandya of semester IV has won the ‘Best Actress Award’ and Abhishek Shah won the ‘Best Director Award’. Out of five categories, SMPIC won prizes in three categories. SMPIC won the 3rd Best Play Award  for ‘Thank You Mr. Glad’ in 2010-11 and 2nd Best Play Award  for ‘Kaalu Atle Andharu’ in 2011-12. The participants of the play are  Meet, Vivek, Asma, Anuja, Devami, Dhara, Dhrumil, Falguni, Dhara, Dishang, Harsh, Kalgi, Krunal, Harsh, Palkesh, Raveena, Riddhish, Sanket, Saryu, Vatsal, Aashish and Sohel.

SMPIC represented Ahmedabad District at Gujarat Government Raas-Garba Competition. Ahmedabad District represented by SMPIC bagged the 3rd Prize and cash prize of RS. 31 thousand in this competition.

SMPIC folk dance team performed at Kankaria Carnival on 26th December,2012. The  team got the opportunity to perform  winning items Nagaru and Raas on the main stage.

SMPIC was declared  the BEST COLLEGE for the fourth time in succession in Josh 2012 organised by NAEMD  on 21st September 2012. SMPIC bagged the first prize, a trophy and a Cheque of Rs. 51000/- by the Dance India Dance fame judge Master Marzi Pestonjee. The main attraction this year was the Hooting Meter and when ever smpic performed the cheer was so loud that college was also awarded the trophy for the biggest cheer. SMPIC won in

Akshat Jain won the 1st Prize in on the spot painting in Rang Bahar, an inter-college fine Arts Competition organized by GLS Institute of Commerce from 28th to 31st August,2012.

 

Riddhi Dave won the 2nd prize in poster making Inter College Competition organized  by K.K. Shah Jarodwala Maninagar  Science college on 8th January,2013.

Ajay Otwaniand  Zeel Sanghavi  participated in the Swimming Tournament on 8th August, 2012held at Gujarat Vidhyapith, Ahmedabad.

2.Chess

SMPICathletesSankit Bhansali and  Riddhish Vora tookpart in the chess tournament held at K.R.Sant  Hall, City Campus Ahmadabadon 21st August, 2012. Sankit Bhansali cleared 6 rounds out of 8 rounds. Riddhish Vora  cleared 5 rounds out of 8 rounds.

3.Cross Country

Govind Singh participated in the Cross Country Competition held at L. D. Arts College on 14th August, 2012.

  Kaivan Dastoor secured  the 2nd position in an Inter-College Boxing tournament held at Naroda College on 25th September, 2012.

Tennis sports meet was held at Racket Academy, Ahmedabad on 13th October 2012. Nandini Pandya played up to Semi final in Singles.Nandini Pandya  & Priyanka Mahesarveri played up to Semi finalsDoubles.Nandini Pandya was also selected for Gujarat University in tennis.

9.Kabbadi

SMPIC team reached in quarter finals in kabbadi tournament held at L. D. Arts college on 11th September,2012.

10. Table tennis

Aman Patel and Moiz participated in table tennis competition held on 15th October, 2012 at University Gymkhana, Ahmedabad.

11. Volleyball

SMPIC participated in Volleyball competition held on 17th and 18th October, 2012 at M. G. Science College, Ahmedabad.

SMPICreached in semi finals in inter college tournament and Jay Shah and Ruchir Desai got selected in Gujarat University team.

Girls Cricket

For the first time SMPIC participated in inter college girls cricket tournament and qualified for quarter finals which was held at Chimanbhai Institute of Management .

Practice session with  India and Pakistan Cricket Team

Mangalya Majmudar and Het Vyas from our institute got the opportunity to practice with players of Indian and Pakistan team on 27th and 28th December in T-20 match.

13. Powerlifting

Siddharth Trivedi participated in State Level Power Lifting Championship held  at Swaminarayan College, Ahmedabad and secured  the 3rd position.

14. Shooting

Harshal  Patel participated in 48th Gujarat State Shooting Championship Competition 2012  held at rifle club, Ahmedabad from  21st September, 2012 to 25th September, 2012. He won total 5 gold & 1 silver medal.

15. Practice session with  India and Pakistan Cricket Team

Mangalya Majmudar and Het Vyas from our institute got the opportunity to practice with players of Indian and Pakistan team on 27th and 28th December in T-20 match.

AHMEDABAD MIRROR TALENT HUNT 2013

 

The Talent of SMPIC crowned “The Best” OR Winners of AM Talent Hunt: SMPIC’s Crowning Glory

Ahmedabad Mirror organized the city’s biggest inter college Talent Hunt for the students across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Preliminary rounds were conducted at the college premises and three hundred teams were selected across the two cities for the semi-final round. The semi-final round was held at Vastrapur Amphi theatre on 1ST March,2013. 25 teams were selected for the finals. SMPIC’s three teams Jaimil Joshi and Group, the Garbo Group and SMPIC Dazzlers were among the finalists.

The grand finale of Ahmedabad Talent Mirror Talent Hunt was held at Karnavati Club on 16th March, 2013, Saturday. On that sassy and jazzy night, among the 25 scintillating performances, the brilliant performances of SMPIC students rocked the night. Entertainment was at its peak and the best three participants were chosen and crowned the best. SMPIC took the honours with the champions – Jaimil Joshi and Group and the 1st runners – up – Dazzlers. Jaimil Joshi, Asma Qureshi, Plakesh Agrawal, Dhara Bhatt, Dishang Seth and Juhi Panchal presented a poetic play written and directed by the group based on the recent Delhi gang-rape case, along with a sand rangoli simultaneously drawn by Juhi Panchal. The prize of Rs. 1,50,000 and a trophy was given away by the telly actor Siddharth Shukla (Balika Vadhu Fame)  and Ahmedabad Mirror Resident Editor Deepal Trivedi. The Dazzlers, Nidhip Shah, Darshin Shah, Chaitanya Patel, Shubham Barot, Ashish Yadav, Megha Nihlani, Prachi Sanghvi, Charmi Khandhar, Divya Asnani, Bijal Shah, Shikha Verma and Shaily Joshi, performed high on energy Bappa Morya number. The prize of Rs. 1,00,000 along with a trophy was given away by singer-writer Devang Patel and Kunjan Patel, director, Gotiz Group. The college has also been awarded with a trophy. The excellent co-ordination and the energy level was a sight to behold. The performances of SMPIC students not only moved and got the audience emotionally involved but left them spellbound.
